1. National Green Tribunal

Why in news: NGT asked Punjab how it will achieve target to cut stubble burning incidents

Key points:

• The NGT was hearing the matter regarding stubble burning in Punjab which was aggravating the issue of air pollution during the winter season in the National Capital Region (NCR) and adjoining areas.

• The tribunal’s principal bench of Chairperson Justice Prakash Shrivastava, Judicial Member Sudhir Agarwal and expert member Dr A Senthil Vel was hearing a suo motu case on stubble burning and air pollution.

2. Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act of 1954

Why in news: Supreme Court is hearing a case of “misleading” claims in advertisements by an Ayurveda-related company

Key points:

• Misleading claims are prohibited under the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act of 1954.

• Section 4 of the Act prohibits advertisements that give false impressions regarding the true character of the drug.

• Section 5 prohibits the Advertisement of Magic Remedies for treatment.

• Magic remedies are defined as any charm (talisman, mantra, kavacha etc.), alleged to possess miraculous powers for diagnosis, cure, mitigation etc.

1. French Automaker Citroen

Why in news: Citroen became first MNC to export EVs from India

Key points:

• French automaker Citroën achieved a milestone by exporting 500 units of the Made-in-India ë-C3 electric vehicle to Indonesia, marking the first instance of a multinational carmaker exporting EVs.

• The export of the ë-C3 symbolizes the strength of Indo-French industrial cooperation and mutual commitment to cleaner mobility.

• IIT Jodhpur researchers have developed a nano-sensor to swiftly detect Cytokines, crucial proteins in disease progression.

• Unlike traditional methods such as ELISA and PCR, which are time-consuming and labor-intensive, this nano-sensor delivers results within just 30 minutes, promising significant cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
