Why in news: India-Nigeria Local Currency Settlement System Agreement.

Key points:

• India and Nigeria aim to finalize a local currency settlement system to boost bilateral trade.

• The agreement, to be settled in Indian rupees and Nigerian naira, was discussed during the 2nd session of the India-Nigeria Joint Trade Committee in Abuja.

• Led by Amardeep Singh Bhatia, the Indian delegation included officials from RBI, EXIM Bank, and NPCI.

• Both nations targeted resolving market access issues and enhancing collaboration in sectors like Crude oil, Pharmaceuticals, UPI, Renewable Energy, Agriculture,

• Sri Lanka has sealed a 20-year power deal with Adani Green Energy Ltd of India.

• As part of the deal, Adani will receive 8.26 cents per kilowatt-hour that is approximately 7 rupees, as announced by the Sri Lankan government.

Why in news: Russia announced drills simulating Tactical Nuclear Weapons Use

Key points:

• Russia’s Defence Ministry has recently announced its decision to conduct exercises simulating the use of tactical nuclear weapons.

• It is the first public announcement by Russia involving tactical nuclear weapon drills, although it regularly conducts exercises with its strategic nuclear forces.

• Tactical nuclear weapons are designed with a lower yield and are intended for use on the battlefield rather than for mass city destruction.
