1. First Hydrogen Plant Of GAIL

Why in news: First Hydrogen plant of GAIL inaugurated in Vijaipur, MP

Key points:

• The plant will produce about 4.3 tonnes of green hydrogen per day, with a purity of about 99.999 per cent by volume.

• The 10-megawatt proton exchange membrane electrolyser has been imported from Canada.

• The plant was in line with the National Green Hydrogen mission that has set out a goal of 5 million tons of annual green hydrogen production capacity for the country by 2030

2. Ban On Gutka And Pan Masala

Why in news: Telangana government enforces Statewide ban on gutka and pan masala.

Key points:

• This government issued a one-year ban on the manufacture, storage, distribution, transportation and sale of gutka and pan masala containing tobacco and nicotine throughout the State, effective immediately.

• As indicated by the order from the Food Safety Commissioner, the restriction will be upheld under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

• The Indian women's compound team of Aditi Gopichand Swami, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Parneet Kaur won the gold medal defeating the Turkish team of Hazal Burun, Ayse Bera Suzer and Begum Yuva.

• Major Radhika Sen, an Indian woman peacekeeper, who served with the UN mission in Congo, will be honoured with a prestigious military gender advocate award.
