Why in news: Union Health Secretary shri Apurva Chandra addresses Plenary Session Of 77th World Health Assembly held in Geneva, Switzerland.

1. Landslide-Hit Papua New Guinea

Why in news: A massive landslide occurred in Enga Province, Papua New Guinea.

• India has announced an immediate relief assistance of one million US dollar to support relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction.

2. Colombia Moves to Ban Bullfighting

Why in news: Colombian lawmakers voted to ban bullfighting from 2027.

Key points:

• According to Animal rights groups, Animal sports does not represent culture, but rather torture.

• The Supreme Court bans jallikattu, bull taming festival in Tamil Nadu and moh juj, buffalo festival in Assam in 2014 .

• But in 2017 Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Karnataka had passed amendments to the central law against cruelty to animals in order to allow traditional sports such as the jallikatu during Pongal.
