1. Nakshatra Sabha

Why in news: India’s first astro tourism campaign Nakshatra Sabha was inaugurated at the George Everest peak in Mussoorie,Uttrakhand.

Key points:

• George Everest Peak is a major tourist attraction in Mussoorie which offers spectacular views of the snow-clad Himalayan peaks and the Doon Valley.

• The Uttarakhand government aims to promote Uttarakhand as a multidimensional tourist spot in the country.

• The state has many Hindu pilgrimage sites like Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri etc which attracts lakh of pilgrims from the country annually.

2. Haryana Police

Why in news: Haryana Police has secured the first position in the country in blocking mobile numbers involved in cyber crime.

Key points:

• Rajasthan & Uttar Pradesh are at number 2nd & 3rd in the list.

• According to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, a total of 5 lakh 46 thousand mobile numbers involved in cyber crime were blocked across the country from 1st January to 31st April this year

3. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj

Why in news: NGMA to organise an exhibition for celebration of the 350th Anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Key points:

• The exhibition titled Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj: Celebration of the 350th Anniversary of the Great Coronation is being presented at National Gallery of Modern Art, (NGMA) Jaipur House, New Delhi.

4. National Workshop on Safe, Trusted, Ethical AI

Why in news: MeitY in collaboration with UNESCO host National Workshop on Safe, Trusted, Ethical AI in New Delhi.

Key points:

• Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in collaboration with the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) South Asia Regional Office hosted a Workshop on Safe, Trusted and Ethical Artificial Intelligence in New Delhi.

• The workshop aimed to establish a foundation for informed policy development that promotes equitable and sustainable AI adoption nationwide.

1. India-Qatar Joint Task Force

Why in news: The inaugural meeting of the Joint Task Force on Investment (JTFI) between India and Qatar convened in New Delhi

Key points:

• Objective: To bolster bilateral relations and explore investment opportunities.

• The meeting aimed to fortify bilateral relations and explore avenues for accelerated growth and collaboration across sectors like infrastructure, energy, technology, and innovation.

2. Spain to Join Gaza Genocide Case

Why in news: Spain will join South Africa’s Gaza genocide case against Israel at ICJ

Key points:

• Spain will join the case filed by South Africa at the International Court of Justice , which accuses Israel of violating its obligations under the Genocide Convention in its war on the Gaza Strip.

• The main goal of joining is to put an end to the war and to advance on the road of applying the two-state solution.

1. TRISHNA Satellite

Why in news: The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the French Space Agency (CNES) have agreed to work together on a satellite mission called TRISHNA.

Key points:

• TRISHNA :Thermal Infra-Red Imaging Satellite for High-resolution Natural Resource Assessment.

• It is a big satellite project whose only goal is to take detailed pictures of the Earth’s surface

• TRISHNA is set to be launched in 2026 and will work from a sun-synchronous orbit 761 km above Earth.

• Its main function will be to keep a close eye on many environmental and climate factors.

1. India’s First Biosphere in a Tiger Reserve

Why in news: Jai Dhar Gupta and Vijay Dhasmana created India's first biosphere Rajaji Raghati Biosphere within the Rajaji National Park in Uttarakhand.

• This Biosphere Situated within the Rajaji National Park in Uttarakhand nestled in the Shivalik foothills.

• The biosphere is a 35-acre private forest initiative aimed at identifying and reviving rare and endangered species of native trees while protecting the area from poachers and mining

2. Panama Evacuates Island Due to Climate Change

Why in news: As a result of higher sea levels,the native Guna people of Gardi Sugdub, an island in the Guna Yala archipelago in Panama evacuated to new place.

Key points:

• Climate change poses serious risks to the community, especially from rising sea levels that flood the area often and let saltwater into freshwater reserves.

• The Panamanian government has started a plan to move about 300 Guna people to new homes on the mainland in Carti Sugtupu.

1. ISSF World Cup 2024

Why in news: Indian shooter Sarabjot Singh won the gold medal in the men’s 10m air pistol event at the ISSF World Cup 2024 in Munich, Germany.

• Shuaihang Bu of China wins silver medal while Germany’s Robin Walter settled for the bronze medal in the final.

• This was the second individual ISSF World Cup gold medal for Sarabjot Singh.

2. Rohit Sharma

Why in news: Rohit Sharma beomes first batsman to reach 600 sixes in international cricket.

Key points:

• The 37-year-old is the first batter to the mark, and the greatness of Rohit’s feat can be understood in that Jos Buttler is the next highest active six-hitter with only 330 maximums.

1. Dilip Bose Lifetime Achievement Award

Why in news: Nar Singh wins Dilip Bose Lifetime Achievement Award.

Key points:

• The All India Tennis Association (AITA) has announced the Dilip Bose award for lifetime achievement to coach Nar Singh.

• The secretary general of AITA also announced a new lifetime achievement award for women coaches

• The first award would be presented to Rohini Lokhande who was a member of the national team along with Kiran Bedi, Nirupama Mankad, Susan Das and Udaya Kumar.
