NATIONAL:

1. Asian Development Bank

Why in news: ADB Approves $170 Million for India’s Health System Preparedness.

Key points:

• The recently approved funding is in line with India’s National Health Policy 2017

• It aims to make sure that all people of India can get proper healthcare.

• The loan is labeled as policy-based, which means it will fix problems with policy frameworks, laws, and governmental governance, which will help move the goal of universal healthcare coverage forward.

2. Hemis Festival 2024

Why in news: The Hemis Festival, a vibrant celebration of Tibetan Buddhism, celebrated annually in Ladakh, India.

Key points:

• In 2024, this important cultural event will be held on June 16th and 17th.

• In Hemis Festival the Chaam dance, performed by monks wearing colorful masks representing Guru Padmasambhava’s eight avatars.

• Thangkas (Buddhist paintings) are also exhibited during festival.

3. Maritime Rescue Centre

4. National Yoga Olympiad 2024

Why in news: Karnataka Governor Inaugurates National Yoga Olympiad 2024 in Mysuru.

Key points:

• It highlighting yoga's ancient cultural significance and global recognition.

• More than 400 students and 100 teachers from across the country are participating in this inaugural three-day event.

• Karnataka’s efforts to become a leading state in yoga literacy through initiatives like ‘Har Ghar Yoga’.

5. Agriculture Sector of India

Why in news: MSDE partners with Australian Government to energise Agriculture Sector of India with emerging skills.

Key points:

• The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), in collaboration with the Australian Government, hosted a comprehensive and productive roundtable to discuss the learnings from the Australia-India Critical Agriculture Skills Pilot Project.

• The findings were shared with MSDE and the Australian Government and subsequently 107 emerging job roles were mapped to identify the 5 critical emerging job roles in the agriculture sector for the pilot projects.

• The six pilot projects nearing completion have been implemented in 4 states, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana.

6. National Forensic Infrastructure Enhancement Scheme

Why in news: Cabinet approves Central Sector Scheme “National Forensic Infrastructure Enhancement Scheme” .

Key points:

• The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal of Ministry of Home Affairs for Central Sector Scheme “National Forensic Infrastructure Enhancement Scheme (NFIES)”.

• The total financial outlay of NFIES is Rs. 2254.43 crore during the period from 2024-25 to 2028-29.

• The components under this Scheme: (i)Establishment of Campuses of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in the country.(ii) Establishment of Central Forensic Science Laboratories in the country. (iii) Enhancement of existing infrastructure of the Delhi Campus of the NFSU.

• It would address the shortage of trained forensic manpower, alleviate the case load / pendency of forensic laboratories, and align with the Government of India's goal of securing a high conviction rate of more than 90%.

7. Multiple Development Projects

Why in news: PM Modi unveils 1,500 crore Multiple Development Projects in Jammu & Kashmir.

Key points:

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 84 major developmental projects worth more than Rs 1500 crore in Jammu and Kashmir.

• The foundation stone for projects like the improvement of the Chenani-Patnitop-Nashri Section, the development of Industrial Estates and the construction of six Government Degree Colleges are also laid.

• He also launched the Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture and Allied Sectors (JKCIP) Project worth Rs 1,800 crore.

• The project will be implemented in 90 Blocks across 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir and will have the project outreach of 300,000 households covering 15 lakh beneficiaries

INTERNATIONAL:

1. Immediate Military Assistance

Why in news: Russia & North Korea signed new defense Pact deal, During Russia’s President visited Pyongyang,North Korea.

Key points:

• Russia & North Korea agreed to provide “immediate military assistance if either nation faces armed aggression”

• It strengthens the relationship between Russia and North Korea at a time when the rest of the world is becoming more isolated.

2. Pink Rice

Why in news: Scientists in Seoul, South Korea, have created a special pink rice to compensate for the lack of protein in people's diet.

Key points:

• This protein will be made artificially in the laboratory, will contain meat protein, but it will not require killing animals.

• Pink rice also named as Meaty Rice will have 10% more protein and seven percent more fat.

• The process of creating hybrid rice will also reduces the carbon footprint of protein production.

1. Kaziranga National Park

Why in news: Limbless amphibian found in Kaziranga national park,Assam for first time.

Key points:

• The team of herpetologists recorded the striped caecilian (Ichthyophis spp) in the tiger reserve for the first time during a rapid herpetofauna survey conducted from June 14-17.

• The limbless amphibian has been added to the fauna in the 1,307.49 sq. km Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve.
