1. FTI-TTP

Why in news: Indira Gandhi International Airport became the first airport in the country to launch 'FTI-TTP' for Indian passport holders.

Key points:

• Only those travelers whose passport is valid for at least six months can apply online for this facility.

• In the first phase, apart from Delhi, it will be started at seven other major airports – Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi and Ahmedabad.

• Fast Track Immigration Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) is an initiative by the Central Government, designed for faster, smoother, and safer immigration clearance.

2. Bureau of Indian Standards

Why in news: The Bureau of Indian Standards has introduced two new standards for electric vehicles.

Key points:

• The Bureau of Indian Standards has introduced two new standards for electric vehicles, IS 18590: 2024 and IS 18606: 2024, to enhance the safety of electric vehicles (EVs).

• They are designed to ensure that the critical component of EV meets stringent safety requirements.

3. Most Trusted Major News Media Brand

Why in news: Times of India became the most trusted major news media brand in India.

Key points:

• The survey, released as part of Digital News Report 2024, an annual publication by the institute, found TOI had a trust score of 71.

• The survey conducted by Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism (RISJ), Oxford University.

• TOI had also topped the survey in 2021 and 2022.

• Earlier, America had declared IRGC as a terrorist organization in the year 2019.

• This announcement in Canada has banned the entry of IRGC members as well as thousands of senior officials of the Iranian government into Canada.

Why in news: Armenia becomes the latest nation to recognise Palestine as a state.

• After this Armenia joins the ranks of Slovenia,Spain, Ireland, and Norway who officially recognised Palestine last month.

• Tajikistan's parliament passed a law banning hijabs and other "alien garments," imposing heavy fines for violations.

• The law includes significant fines for violations: Individuals: Up to 7,920 somonis. Companies: Up to 39,500 somonis. Government Officials: Up to 54,000 somonis. Religious Leaders: Up to 57,600 somonis.

1. Pushpak

Why in news: ISRO's Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV) 'Pushpak' made its third consecutive successful landing.

Key points:

• The third and final test in the series of Landing Experiment (LX-03) was conducted at in Chitradurga, Karnataka.

• RLV 'Pushpak' demonstrated its capability in challenging conditions.

• The first landing experiment will be on April 2, 2023 and the second on March 22, 2024.

• 'Pushpak' was released from a Chinook helicopter of the Indian Air Force, Pushpak maintained his balance on his own and continued walking straight on the runway.

2. ASMI Submachine Gun

Why in news: Indian Army Inducts Indigenous ASMI Submachine Gun.

Key points:

• The Atmanirbhar Bharat Northern Command of the Indian Army has ordered 550 indigenously designed, developed, and manufactured ASMI submachine guns worth Rs 4.26 crores from Hyderabad-based Lokesh Machine Limited.

• This marks the first time an indigenously designed and manufactured weapon has been inducted into the Indian Army.

• ASMI developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation’s (DRDO) Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE) in Pune, in collaboration with the Indian Army.

Why in news: Patanjali research discovered a new foral plant Campanula densesilifta found in Yamunotri.

Key points:

• Its flower was purple in color,not found anywhere in the world.

• The research has been published by Phytotaxa, the world famous botanical research journal of New Zealand. Patanjali's research has worked to enhance the pride of the country.

2. World’s Oldest Termite Mounds

Why in news: World’s Oldest Termite Mounds Discovered in Namaqualand, South Africa.

Key points:

• They are home to termites for the longest period, going back between 13,000 and 34,000 years.

• The main goal of the study was to find out how these termite mounds might change the chemicals in the groundwater.

Why in news: Iberian Lynx Conservation Status Upgraded to Vulnerable.

• The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) changed the Iberian Lynx’s protection status from “Endangered” to “Vulnerable”.

• The species is native to Spain and Portugal.

• In 2001, there were only 62 adult individuals, but by 2022, there were 648, and now more than 2,000.

• Mango and its products worth Rs 29 lakh and plantation material sold in two days.
