1. Khalubar War Memorial

Why in news: As a tribute to the heroes of the Kargil War, Indian Army Opened Khalubar War Memorial To Tourists in Ladakh.

Key points:

• This was part of the ‘Forever in Operations’ Division’s Pre-Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations as this year, the country will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26 July.

• This war memorial located in the renowned Aryan Valley commemorates the bravery and sacrifices of soldiers who fought to reclaim the valley during the war.

2. One Week One Theme

Why in news: Dr. Jitendra Singh on 24th june launched "One Week One Theme" (OWOT) campaign showcasing recent success stories of India in different streams of science and technology.

Key points:

• The objective is to integrate the efforts of all CSIR labs working on similar projects to reduce overlap and optimize resources.

• ‘One Week One Theme’ initiative under Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) aims to make innovation inclusive for all.

• ‘One week One Theme’ is the brainchild of Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh. ‘OWOT’ is built on the legacy and success of the ‘One Week One Lab’ (OWOL) initiative started last year.

• Objective behind this initiative is to create awareness among citizens about the progress and development in Labs, to benefit them giving them new avenues and opportunities for employment, empowering stakeholders such as MSMEs, Startups, SHGs, scientists, researchers by integration and collaboration with Industry.

3. Smallest Bullet Proof Jacket

Why in news: Country's smallest bullet proof jacket made in Kanpur.

Key points:

• Under the Self-reliant India Mission, the country's smallest Bullet Proof Jacket Ordnance Equipment Factory (OEF) has been built in Kanpur.

• This Level-5 standard jacket has been specially designed for the protection of police and para military force personnel.

1. Rajshahi-Kolkata Cross Border Train

Why in news: Rajshahi-Kolkata cross border train service set to resume after 77 years.

Key points:

• The cross-border train service between Rajshahi, Bangladesh, and Kolkata, India, is set to resume after a 77-year.

• This will be the 4th international train between India and Bangladesh after Kolkata-Dhaka ‘Maitree Express’, Kolkata-Khulna ‘Bandhan Express’ and New Jalpaiguri-Dhaka ‘Mitali Express’.

2. State Of Emergency

Why in news: Brazil declares state of emergency as the Pantanal faces "out of control fires".

Key points:

• The six-month state of emergency was declared by the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, home to much of the wetlands in Brazil.

• The surge of fires before the peak of the dry season has raised alarm for the Pantanal, which extends into Bolivia and Paraguay and is home to a rich array of wildlife, including the world's highest density of jaguars.

• According to experts the blazes are a result of a harsh drought and deliberate fires set to expand agricultural land into the forest that burn out of control.

3. Major Non-NATO Ally

Why in news: US President has designated Kenya as a major non-NATO ally (MNNA) of USA.

Key points:

• MNNA status is a designation under US law that provides foreign partners with certain benefits in the areas of defence trade and security cooperation.

• While the MNNA status provides military and economic privileges, it does not entail any security commitments to the designated country.

4. International Criminal Court

Why in news: International Criminal Court issues arrest warrants for Sergei Shoigu and Valery Gerasimov.

Key points:

• International Criminal Court issues arrest warrants for Sergei Shoigu, the former Russian defence minister, and leading Russian general Valery Gerasimov for alleged crimes committed during Russia's attack on Ukraine.

• According to ICC they were responsible for missile strikes on Ukraine's electric infrastructure from October 2022 to March 2023, targeting civilians and civilian objects.

• Russia is not a member of International Criminal Court.

5. Carbon Dioxide Tax On Agriculture

Why in news: Denmark will be first to impose CO2 tax on Agriculture.

Key points:

• Denmark will introduce a tax on livestock carbon dioxide emissions from 2030, making it the first country to do so.

• A tax was first proposed in February by government-commissioned experts to help Denmark reach a legally binding 2030 target of cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 70% from 1990 levels.

1. Chang'e-6

Why in news: China's Chang'e-6 brought rock & soil samples from the Moon.

Key points:

• China's lunar probe module Chang'e-6 returned to Earth after collecting samples from the far side of the Moon for the first time.

• Chang'e-6 is the first spacecraft to reach the far side of the Moon and collect samples from there.

• It has returned to Earth with about two kilograms of lunar dust and rocks from the far side of the Moon.

• Chang'e-6 was launched on May 3 this year.

• India became the first country to land near the south pole region of the Moon on 23rd August 2023. Its Chandrayaan-3 lander had successfully landed there

1. Om Birla

Why in news: BJP leader Om Birla was elected as Speaker of 18th Lok Sabha on 26th june.

Key points:

• Birla was elected against INDIA bloc's candidate K Suresh during the voice vote held in the House.

• Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi will be the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha.

• After ten years in the Lok Sabha, a leader will take over the responsibility of the leader of the opposition.

• He is the only Lok Sabha speaker after Balram Jakhar in 1985 to get two full terms. Traditionally, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha were elected based on consensus between the ruling party and the opposition.

• Om Birla is a three-time MP from Kota, Rajasthan and was the speaker in the previous Lok Sabha (17th) too.

Why in news: Mrinal Kr Das appointed as Director in Department of Consumer Affairs.

• Mrinal Kumar Das (IRS) has been appointed as the Director in the Department of Consumer Affairs under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.

• Das has been selected for the appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) for a period of five years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier. of Revenue.

Why in news: Temple museum to be built in Ayodhya Lucknow.

Key points:

• The state government approved the proposal for construction of a world-class Indian Temple Museum in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.

• For the construction of the museum, the Tourism Department will give land on lease for 90 years.

• 'Tata Sons' company had given a proposal to the state for the construct a world class Indian Temple Museum in Ayodhya at a cost of Rs 650 crore from the Corporate Social Responsibility Fund (CSR Fund).

1. Frank Duckworth

Why in news: Frank Duckworth, who was among the creators of the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method in cricket, died at the age of 84.

Key points:

• This method was developed by Frank and his partner Tony Lewis.

• It is used to determine the results of matches affected by rain.

• This method was implemented in international cricket in 1997 and in 2001, ICC accepted it in those matches where the number of overs is less.

2. Compressed Biogas Production

Why in news: Uttar Pradesh Leads India in Compressed Biogas Production.

• The Center for Science and Environment (CSE) released an report that showed Uttar Pradesh could create 24% of India’s CBG.

• This was revealed at a symposium in Muzaffarnagar put together by CSE and the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA).

• The meeting was about improving waste management, finding local clean energy solutions, and lowering reliance on compressed natural gas (CNG) imports.

Why in news: The book 'Padmashree Artists of Bihar' will be released on July 7 by Bihar Museum.

• It will contain stories of 15 Padmashree artists associated with Bihar.

2. Karamchat Dam

Why in news: Rampur (Kaimur) Tourism facilities were inaugurated at Karamchat Dam near Bhitaribandh village of Rampur block on the border of Kaimur and Rohtas.

• Dr. Prem Kumar, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, inaugurated the facilities built at a cost of about Rs 2 crore.

• 925 meter access road, catenary, two barracks, boring and entrance gate, a stepped ghat have been built for the tourists.

• The dam is adjacent to the Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary area, 30 km from Bhabua.

Why in news: Dr. Rajnath Jha, Patna honored with US Global Excellence Award .

• The conference was organized in New Delhi under the aegis of International Vedic Astrology Federation America.

• On this occasion, Jha was honored with the US Global Excellence Award and the International Astro Excellence Award.

• This honour was given to him for his research based lecture on Manglik Dosha Removal and Happy Married Life in Astrology.
