1. International Dairy Federation Asia-Pacific Summit

Why in news: The first IDF Regional Dairy Conference Asia Pacific-2024 held in Kochi from June 26th to June 28th, 2024.

Key points:

• The main goals are to increase production, make sure that milk collection is open and honest, and encourage environmentally friendly practices in the face of climate change.

• The Union Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy, the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), and the International Dairy Federation (IDF) are some of the most important groups involved.

• Over 1,000 delegates from more than 20 countries, including influential leaders and experts from the dairy industry, are expected to attend.

2. Chadwick House: Navigating Audit Heritage

Why in news: CAG inaugurates India’s first ‘Chadwick House: Navigating Audit Heritage’ Museum at Shimla.

Key points:

• It is a significant milestone in the preservation and celebration of the institution’s rich heritage and contributions to the nation’s governance.

• Chadwick House is a significant landmark in Shimla, boasts a rich and extensive history.

• Its historical significance is further highlighted by Mahatma Gandhi’s stay in 1946 during his visit to Shimla for the Cabinet Mission.

• Post-independence, in 1950, a training school for the Indian Audit and Accounts Service was started here.

1. Azm-e-Istehkam

Why in news: Pakistan Launches New Military Operation Azm-e-Istehkam.

Key points:

• Pakistan’s leaders have started Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, also known as “Resolve for Stability,” to fight the rising violence and terrorism that are mostly caused by the country’s battles with Afghanistan.

• Azm-e-Istehkam’s main goal is to improve security in the country by fighting threats from within and stopping armed rebels from Afghanistan.

• It will use socioeconomic tactics to make people happier and stop extremist ideas from spreading.

1. Madhya Pradesh

Why in news: Madhya Pradesh Ministers to Pay Income Tax on Salaries and Allowances .

Key points:

• The Madhya Pradesh cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, decided on June 25, 2024, that state ministers will now be responsible for paying income tax on their salaries and allowances out of their own pockets.

• This marks a significant change from a 1972 rule under which the state government bore the tax burden.

• This decision was approved unanimously during a cabinet meeting held in Bhopal.

ECONOMY:

1. US Dollars Remittance

Why in news: India received 120 billion US dollars remittance in the year 2023.

Key points:

• This is almost double the US$66 billion in remittances Mexico received during the same period.

• The report released by the World Bank, the top five countries receiving the highest remittances include India and Mexico along with China (US$ 50 billion), Philippines (US$ 39 billion) and Pakistan (US$ 27 billion).

• Remittances from UAE to India are 18 percent. Apart from UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar account for 11 per cent of India's total remittances.

• The World Bank said that remittances to India are expected to grow by 3.7 percent to US $ 124 billion in 2024 and by four percent to US $ 129 billion in 2025

Key points:

• Central Electronics Limited (CEL) achieved "Mini RATNA" status (Category-1) during its Golden Jubilee celebration, marking its transformation into a profitable PSU with notable contributions.

• This recognition underscores CEL’s transformation from a loss-making PSU to a profitable entity, achieving a net profit of approximately Rs 58 crore and consistently paying dividends to the Government of India for three consecutive years.

1. Leopard Safari

Why in news: India's largest leopard safari opens at Bannerghatta, Karnataka.

Key points:

• It is South India's first and the country's largest leopard safari inaugurated at the Bannerghatta Biological Park in Bengaluru

• Eight leopards have been released for the safari in the open forest area.

• The facility has been created at a cost of ₹4.5 crore.

2. Oldest Ostrich Nest

Why in news: Oldest ostrich nest found in in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh..

• It is being told that it is about 41,000 years old.

• It was discovered by experts from Germany, Australia and America along with archaeologists from Vadodara University.

• This archaeological discovery has turned the district into a tourist destination.

Why in news: Suhas LY becomes world’s number one para shuttler.

Key points:

• In the recently released world rankings, he achieved this feat by leaving France's Lucas Mazur behind in the SL-4 singles category.

• IAS Suhas LY, who won silver in the Tokyo Paralympics, will take the court as a top shuttler in the Paris Paralympics to be held in August.

BIHAR:

1. Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Station

Why in news: Three new units of 800 MW each will be installed in Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Station, Aurangabad.

Key points:

• The Central Government has approved the capacity expansion Stage-2 of Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Station (NSTPS) of Aurangabad, wholly owned by NTPC.

• Under Stage 2- Three new units with 800 MW power generation capacity will be set up.

• This plant will be built by 2029, which will provide electricity to Bihar which will increase in the next four-five years.

• With the installation of three new units, the total power generation capacity of NSTPS will increase from 1980 MW to 4380 MW After the increase, the status of this project will change from Super Thermal Power Station to Mega Thermal Power Station.

2. Deenanath Memorial Award

Why in news: Shubhachandra Sinha received Deenanath Memorial Award.

Key points:

• Former Governor of Sikkim Ganga Prasad inaugurated the newly created 'Deenanath Sharan Memorial Room' in Bihar Hindi Sahitya Sammelan library.

• This year's Shailja Mala Memorial Award was given to the learned poetess Yashoda Sharma. Along with the citation, Sinha was given an honorarium of Rs 11,000 and Mrs Sharma was given Rs 5,000.
